COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT VISITS LVT PROGRAM IN ONITSHA.
Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, the Commissioner for Youth Development in Anambra State, paid a visit to the ongoing Long Vacation Tutorial (LVT) program held in Onitsha. In his address to the students and teachers participating in the program, Mr. Agha Mba emphasized the vital role of education in human development. He highlighted the Anambra State administration's commitment to education under the leadership of the Youth Friendly Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR which included the recent employment of 5000 teachers shortly after assuming office.
Mr. Agha Mba expressed gratitude towards Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his significant investments in the education sector. These investments have resulted in Anambra students achieving remarkable global recognition. He also extended appreciation to the initiator of the program, HRM Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, for his innovative "Catch Them Young" approach to youth development. He called upon other traditional rulers in Anambra State to follow this approach, fostering a brighter future for children and a more harmonious society.
The LVT Program, designed to engage students positively during the extended vacation, attracted more than 3000 students across various centers in Onitsha North and Onitsha LGAs. Mr. Patrick Agha Mba encouraged the students to exert themselves in their studies, ensuring their parents' efforts aren't in vain, particularly during these challenging times. During his visit, he also rewarded exceptional students who performed well in the conducted tests.
It's noteworthy that Mr. Agha Mba has made it a tradition to visit the LVT Program annually, earning the nickname "Thank God it's Friday" from teachers and organizers, as he visits to provide encouragement and support.
Accompanying the commissioner during the visit were Engr. Chueka Tony Omata, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Kpajie Barr. Ernest Offiah, President of the Onitsha Youth Council, and other community youth leaders and stakeholders.
