Governor Soludo To Make Anambra ICT Haven Of Nigeria.

The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has reiterated the determination of his administration to sustain the dream of making the state the Information and Communication Technology haven of the country.

Governor Soludo stated this during the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 Corps members deployed to Anambra state at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.

He urged the corps members to be grounded in ICT and to be systematically engaged during their service year, especially in the areas of software engineering, IT support, IT security, system analysis, system design, networks and database administration as well as web and multimedia.

The governor represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba noted that the programme no doubt would have a tremendous impact on the youths as it would make them acquire digital skills, provide room for employable citizenry, reduce youth restiveness and promote peace, harmony and economic growth even as he announced that his administration has also diversified from hydrocarbon powered street lights to sustainable solar powered

Governor Soludo also urged the Corps members to support in creation of a greener and more environmentally friendly state as NYSC members are always in the vanguard for assisting government and non-government organizations to realise their dreams, pledging his continued moral and financial support to the scheme.

Governor Soludo reminded them of his administration’s transformational agenda which cut across many spheres and one of the aspects of the agenda is the programme tagged “Clean and Green Revolution” aimed at making the entire landscape of the state green through massive planting of cash crops.

In his speech, the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board and commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba represented by the President ASATU Youth wing, Comrade Ken Okoli congratulated them on the successful completion of the twenty-one days orientation course which he said has sharpened their minds on the tasks ahead; telling them that the good people of Anambra have already prepared to warmly receive them in their various communities.

He assured them that as they move into their host communities, they will realize that the environment is urbanised and that they are likely to live in the midst of literate and cultured people who can communicate with them easily and advised them to study the way of life of their host communities, adapt to the environment and strive to avoid any aspect that would antagonize them before the people.

Mr Agha Mba appreciated the camp officials who managed the camp and the Corps members for being loyal to benefit from the tutelage and wished the corps members the best of luck as they served their fatherland.

Presenting her address, the Anambra state Coordinator NYSC, Mrs Blessing Iruma informed the governor that NYSC officials and the collaborating partners diligently executed the tasks assigned to them by exposing the Corps Members to sports, drills, parades, martial arts, professional and traditional lectures, cultural dance and drama, physical training, skills acquisition and other exciting activities aimed at equipping the corps members with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive during their service year.

Mrs Iruma stated that the corps members actively participated in a wide range of training sessions including lectures, and community development activities, showcasing their immense potential to contribute positively to the development of Anambra State adding that discipline, a core value of the NYSC, has been exemplified by the corps members during their stay at the orientation camp.

She urged the corps members to adhere strictly to the laws of the land and the established rules and regulations of the NYSC as well as respect the cultures and traditions of the communities they will be serving in, reminding them that active participation in the Community Development Service is a vital aspect of the NYSC programme.

She extended her sincere gratitude to all their collaborative agencies, Anambra state government, the traditional rulers of Umuawulu and Mbaukwu communities and all camp officials for their contributions to the success of the programme.

The corps members were full of excitement and eagerness to get to their places of primary assignment.
