Umuboi is the entrepreneurship scheme of 1Youth2Skills for apprentices, also known as the Local Enterprise Development Scheme. It brings back the practice of apprenticeship that made the Igbo exceptional in enterprise around the world.
Market leaders are asked to make sure that only the most qualified, genuine Umuboi are put forward for screening and empowerment: the programme is neither for compensation nor for political patronage.
Selected Umuboi receive the Talking Book and Pen, attend a value re-orientation and capacity-building workshop, and are certified by UNIZIK Business School after the examination for business financing. In the first cohort 235 Umuboi from the 21 local government areas were successful.
