The statewide capacity-building and certification programme for sports practitioners was launched on 8 October 2026 to equip coaches, administrators and other sports professionals to identify, train and manage emerging athletes. It builds on the database created by the registration exercise.
Sessions cover the five pillars of sports management — planning, organising, staffing, funding and control; athletes' health, safety, nutrition, hydration and rest; coaching ethics and sport as a career; and sports law, including the difference between clubs and academies and parental consent for underage athletes.
The Anambra North workshop held on 10 October at the Onitsha North Local Government Secretariat Hall, themed “Roles of Sports Practitioners in Building Champions On and Off the Field”, and ended with the presentation of certificates.
