Grassroots facilities
New community facilities for young athletes — Ora-Eri in Aguata and the multipurpose arena at Eziowelle — and mini-stadium proposals for the 21 LGAs.
- Ora-Eri Community Football Facility
- Aguata LGA, commissioned 2 October 2026
- Chief of Naval Staff Multipurpose Outdoor Sports Arena
- Eziowelle Civic Centre, commissioned 25 August 2026
On 2 October 2026 the Commissioner commissioned the Ora-Eri Community Football Facility, built by the Aguata Local Government Council, as an investment in grassroots sport and youth development. “Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not always everywhere. Today, Aguata is creating that opportunity.”
On 25 August 2026 he commissioned the Chief of Naval Staff Multipurpose Outdoor Sports Arena at Eziowelle Civic Centre, with restrooms and changing rooms — a Corporate Social Responsibility project of the Nigerian Navy, and an example of the Public-Private-Community Partnership model.
The Ministry is taking sport to communities, villages and schools, and is working with local government councils to build facilities and organise sports festivals at the grassroots.
